  4. a person, esp. a child or young person, having extraordinary talent or ability: a musical prodigy.

  5. Often used to refer to a very young child who exhibits remarkable genius and/or skills and talent in areas others usually have to practice for years to arrive at. It seems to be an inborn trait that manifests itself in outstanding ways to make it appear phenomenal to others to witness. Mozart was a child prodigy, learning to play harpsichord merely by watching his father teach his sister when Mozart was only three. Soon after, at age 5, I believe, he wrote his first musical composition.
