Could someone tell me what this means? I heard it on a song by the Scottish band Runrig. In the song lyrics, he seems to be singing about a wedding. Is it Gaelic or is it a place or...what is it? Thanks!

  1. I found this:

    My guess is - adequate.

  2. There are three different kinds of Gaelic: Irish, Scottish and Manx.

In Irish Gaelic, "réiteach" means "preparation," "resolution," or "solution."

I can't find anything in the Scottish Gaelic or Manx dictionaries, so I assume that word is Irish Gaelic. Ironic, since it's a Scottish band...

  3. In Gàidhlig (Scots gaelic) rèiteach is engagement, like agreement to marry.

In Irish réiteach is just a solution. Its not used in connection to marriage, we use gealltanas (pledge) instead.
