What does "second cousin, third cousin" means?

You need to think in terms of a family tree.

On the same generation your siblings will be next to you.

Your cousins will be the kids of your parents siblings.

Your second cousins will be the kids of your parents' cousins which in turn are the kids of your grandparents' siblings.

Third cousins goes in a similar way would be the kids of your parents' second cousins or the grandchildren of your grandparents' (first) cousins or the greatgrandchildren of your greatgrandparents' siblings.

Fourth cousins...oh who cares about fourth cousins...LOL
