What does "sink" means? (please)?

Hi, I´m mexican, and trying to traduce one article, It´s about tomato crop. What part of the stem or of the fruit is the sink? Can you please describe it? (If you know the spanish traduction better).

  1. "sources" are parts of the plant where soluble carbohydrates are being produced and moved into the phloem, normally this would be the leaves. "Sinks" are parts of the plant where soluble carbohydrates are removed from the phloem. These may be the roots, developing fruits or any other part which cannot produce enough carbohydrate to meet its needs.
