  17. i agree with ray about AA  and i havent drank since june 17 2000 . AA becomes the addiction that the alcohol was.. I couldnt get on board with their program

  18. Depends on who you're talking to. If it's a normal person, it means you're not drunk.

    But to a member of Alcoholics Anonymous it means you have stopped drinking by following the program of AA and doing the Twelve Steps. If you quit drinking but do not use AA and the 12 Steps, you are a dry drunk, a totally useless human being.

    To them, "sobriety" is some quasi-mystical state that can only be achieved through their program, like Enlightenment. Failure to do the program and steps properly will cause cause some sort of rift and your Higher Power will not grant you your daily reprieve and you will be struck drunk. For some reason, they think they own that word, "sober", and others aren't allowed to use it, except unless they're talking about AA's definition.

    Seriously.

    AA members have no respect for people who get sober on their own. They'll claim they must never have been an alcoholics because true alcoholics can only get sober through AA. How's that for circular logic?

  19. Not under the influence of any alcholic beverage or substance. When your "sober" your in your natural state of mind and ability when you "intoxicated" your not in your natural state of mind or awareness.

    6. sane or rational: a sober solution to the problem.
