  1. The per stripes phrase is related to a family branch.  When one wills his estate to a person or persons per stripes, it means that that either that person or his descendants will receive a specific amount of the estate.  This proviso is mainly used in order to definitively state how the estate will be distributed if one of the beneficiaries precedes the benefactor in death.
