What does "unforeseen circumstances" mean?

When I fell on 12-6-02 and broke 5 ribs while delivering mail, that was an "unforeseen circumstance".  I didn't plan to fall and

break my ribs that day and it wasn't normal procedure.

Something that happened that was unplanned, such as

you got a flat tire or got into a car wreck on your way to

a job interview, or you had to cancel your vacation because

of a death in the family,  or your flight was cancelled because

of bad weather.
