ok so, thanks for the detailed explanation asia but I meant as a description of a word (i.e. (n) means noun)

I've been researching some japanese words and I found this for koukai (regret) and it works as a (n) and (vs)

singular verb? ...does this noun also function as a irregular verb (by adding) "suru" after? is that what its getting at?

    Tim against Bill

I hope thats what u mean

or verb singular..I have no clue but I tried lol

  3. Compared to, against, such as one word compared with another.

Spoken as 'versus', or you can say 'against', these are all abbreviations of the Latin word and English legal term versus (against) referring to the opposing sides in a lawsuit e.g. Kramer vs. Kramer.

Vs is used in forex trading to compare foreign currency exchange rates: dollar vs yen, EUR vs USD.

Also a match or contest between sporting participants – football teams, tennis players, boxers etc. e.g. Man U. vs Chelsea.

If this doesn't help, then give us some examples of where you have seen 'vs' used.

If it's one of the abbreviations used in a particular dictionary, there will (or should) be an explanation of them somewhere. Sorry I can't help you with Japanese, though!

Hey, I think I may have found it: Vide Super (Latin: See Above) – it could be referring to a previous listing.
