What does "w" which Japanese people always use mean ?

I often see it at YOUTUBE and NICO-NICO-DOGA .

If I understand it , youtube and niconicodoga make me more fun than before .

  1. w = 笑い (warai) = lol

    also in ギャル文字 (gyaru moji)

    w represents the hiagana ん

    It is not polite expression but kind of typical  on-web expression  in Japanese.

    笑 or  爆笑 or 大爆笑 are same.

    wwwwwwww... for example  means equal to laugh out loud

  4. Warai means laugh in Japanese. So the "w" represents smile or laugh. Someone from the Japan section on Yahoo! Answers told me this not too long ago, haha.
