What does "wdf" mean on the golf leaderboard?

The current pga golf tournament posted this symbal beside those who missed the cut by one stroke.

  1. Withdrawn From Field (was in the field, but no longer playing in the tournament)


  2. As I'm not familiar with "WDF", I think you mean "MDF", which is "Made cut, but Did not Finish".  It's a relatively new leaderboard status acronym imposed by the PGA.

    It signifies:

    a) players that made the cut, but withdrew for personal reasons...but since they made the cut, they still get a paycheck for making the cut.

    b) players that made the cut, but then for tournament sizing, were cut anyway.
