What does r-no passes mean?

i was looking at the new movie tropic thunder on fandango and it said it was rated R(no passes), what does that mean?

  1. It means you can't use any kind of movie pass to see the movie, you have to pay.


  2. R is the rating, (Restricted for under 17), No Passes means you can't use free passes. Some businesses, etc. give away free passes to employees, or as contest prizes, and you can't use those to get into that film.

    It's usually that way for newer films, and will be removed after about a month or so.  

  3. Sometimes you can get free or discounted movie tickets, but you aren't allowed to use them for the popular new releases...that is all that it means by no passes.
