  1. 2 miles east of here, and 1 mile north of the lake...a relative position.  How it relates to other known places.

  2. Relative location means, where something is in relation to another.  Absolute location mean exactly where something is.

Example, your home:  Absolute location is the address, relative location is fourth house on the left.

Example, New York City:  Absolute location is the latitude and longitude of the city, relative location is at the mouth of the Hudson River.

  3. In geography, this is sometimes called "place."

It's your position in relation to other places.  For example, America is west of Europe.

  4. Relative location is the place where something is in comparison to something else. Relative location is not excact . As it sounds, it means it is related to something, such as the examples here: If you were to give directions to somebody and you used terms such as "it is across the street from the American Airlines Arena" or "it is to the left of the home of Dwayne Wade.", or "it is very close to a certain city."

Relative location can also be on a larger scale. A good example of this would be that Lake Maracaibo is in the northern part of South America.

Relative location is the polar opposite of absolute location, which is the exact spot on earth where something is.

anoter exanple is if it is in the middle of two big trees!

    All the best :)
