I get Yahoo! News Alerts sent to me. I sometimes post my view on the story. I don't use profanity, am curtious, check my spelling, and follow the guidelines.

If I use don't show messages with profanity from my options, there are very few messages, so I pick strick out profanity.

Why can't the message boards be as pleasant as here at Yahoo! Answers?

Reporting abuse seems a waste of time, since most of it seems abuse.

Do report abuse work on message boards? Does Yahoo! tell who reported the abuse?

  2. Well, Yahoo! Questions gets some really nasty and stupid questions or answers from time to time. I dont think that reporting abuse at many places actually works because normally an automated inbox receives it and pays zero attention to it. But I've heard that on sites like myspace, for example (which happens to be taking over the whole world slowly) you can report abuse (any sort of weird behavior, or misuse of the system) and have them care about it, and shut down the person's account.

I think that abuse on message boards probably refers to any sort of unusual behavior; like someone confessing to having committed a huge crime, someone talking about something illegal that they have been involved with, sexual stuff. Simply put, if they are corrupting what the message board stands for, then they should be reported.
