What does restaurant check mean?

Can anyone tell me what restaurant check is, and its relation with tip?

it is the slip of paper or bill wait staff leaves on table to let you know how much owe, and no it has nothing to do with tip you give that separately

i give according to service not percentage

Ummm, isnt it just your bill? With regards to tipping, its roughly 10% of the total aint it??

The check is the bill for your meal. Gratuity ettiqutte now calls for a 15% tip for good service and can go as high as 18%. becareful when going in large groups because most restaurant would add the tip to the "check" for parties of 6 or more.
