  1. sand kills them but its fun too ride

  2. nothing unless it gets in your carberator, engine, etc.as long as you keep it out of your parts that make it run then it will be fine.make sure to allways keep your bike clean so no sand will fall in the air filter!

  3. sand eats motorcycles...sand finds its way into EVERY part of the bike....airbox.....sealed bearings.... the engine.......this is why they are not called sand bikes...

  4. If the sand is wet then it is the quickest way to turn a new bike into an old one as it is just like riding in sandpaper.  Sand is kind to tyres but can wear brake pads a lot quicker and the bike can run a bit lean in sand so the jetting needs to be adjusted to allow for it, with an increase in the size of the main jet.  Chains and sprockets also wear a lot quicker and you have to make sure the air filter is clean as dust from sand can cause problems.

The main track my son races at is a sand track (not sand dunes so that is different)  and he has gone through a set of brake pads on a wet day in three races simply due to the wear.

  5. The thing that it effects most on a dirtbike is, dirties your air filter fast and you have to keep your bike well lubricated the sand will dry out things that should be lubricated and sand also may try to work its way into your motor and into any type of bearing that you have  you can prevent this by cleaning your dirtbike after riding it in the sand. Also where it is sandy usually means hotter climate so make sure your bike is doing good on its fluids so it doesnt over heat. I hope that helped! Have fun!!
