  1. Well Geebo is a little off... A slow blow element fuse is a dual element fuse used primarily for motor starting and stopping. This provides protection during starting of motors, when they draw considerably more current than during run time. They also provide quick protection for immediate response as a quick blow during a short out situation. A slow blow fuse only provides the latter. Why use quick blow? They are a fraction of the price of dual element.

  2. the way the filament burns.... slow blow have more resistance than quck blow fuses

  3. They are differences in reaction time and application. Slow blows are generally used on motor or relay circuits to allow time for peak current to fade before normal operation. Quick blows are used on safety circuits where over current may cause significant damage or is a fire hazard.

  4. a "slow-blow" rating, means that it can handle moderately high currents for a short time without damage. Such a fuse might be used in an appliance containing a motor. If the motor is rated to consume 2 Amps during continuous operation, it could be protected by a slow-blow fuse. When the motor is first turned on, it will draw much more than 2 Amps for a few seconds, and the slow-blow rating of the fuse ensures that the fuse doesn't blow every time the motor starts. A quick blow fuse is actually just a standard fuse designed to blow instantly. Hope this helps
