What does some of the things in a guitar tab mean?

On some guitar tabs I saw that there is a key above some of them (not literally a key). One of them has a slash and says it represents slide up or down. What does it mean slide up or down??

It means that to get to the next note you just slide your fingers to it, instead of lifting them up.
