  2. You get a dog spayed so she can't have babies

  3. Spaying is the surgical removal of a female dog's reproductive organs so that she can no longer reproduce.  Spaying also eliminates the risk for developing ovarian cancer and other ailments that a female can be at risk for if she still has her reproductive organs.

  4. You get the female reproductive organs removed so they can not have puppies.

  5. It's when a dog is given a complete hysterectomy,so she won't have puppies, develop uterine infections, cancer, etc. The uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes are removed.

  6. It means she will no longer come in heat.

It means she stands a chance at living a healthy longer life.

It means you just cut her chances of getting certain kinds of cancer.

It means you care enough to not bring any more un wanted puppies into this world to be put to death.

It means you are a good careing pet owner.Tilks Mom

  7. basically, to put it simple, its like when a woman "gets her tubes tied". the fallopian tubes, uterus and ovaries all come out. no heats, no pups. simple as that.

  9. females get spayed

    males get neutered

basically it's a common surgery where the vet removes the bits so puppies can't be made

  10. It's the surgery they perform, where they remove all the reproductive organs in a female dog. They remove the Uterus, the Ovaries, and the Fallopian Tubes. After this is done, the female cannot become pregnant. and there is less of a chance of her getting certain types of Cancer. Getting your dog Spayed, is the most loving, responsible thing that you can do for her!

  11. It means no crying, whining, nagging to get out.  No bolting, straining, pulling at the leash. No constant scratching at the back door.  No howling, yowling, bleeding all over the place.  No fighting with other dogs.  No mood swings.  No hoarding of toys or people's possessions.  No uterine infections.  No false pregnancies.  No Pyometra.  No high blood pressure or toxicity.  No emergency C-sections.  No dying while giving birth.

No contribution to the MILLIONS of dogs that are killed in shelters every year because there is just no room for them.  No contribution to the MILLIONS of dogs that die on the streets or in the wilderness.  No contribution to the MILLIONS of dogs that are killed by their owners through abuse or neglect because they didn't really want the dog in the first place...

No puppies.  That's what spay means.  No reproductive organs and therefore, no puppies.

Oh yeah, it is also what a responsible pet owner does for a dog that they love.  For all of the above reasons.

EDIT:  link to Pyometra, a major cause of death in intact female dogs and cats:
