  1. You wont be getting 'ripped' as you put it. That's the exchange rate - we in Europe are quite used to this having smaller countries to move around in.The dollar isn't worth too much at the moment so you aren't going to get a good deal for your money.

You aren't losing money - it's just that some countries are more or less expensive than the States to live in due to different tax systems etc.

Gas is approx 1.40 euro per litre, milk about 1 euro per litre, hotel rooms for a night start from about 70euro per person sharing but Bed and Breakfast places are great value for money - AND much friendlier!

  2. Basically everything is double the price as it would be America. It's insane! I just got back from spending a month there and the prices are ouutrageous!! Don't exchange money unless you extract it from an ATM in about 200 dollars at a time becasue you get the best rate possible.

  3. prices are in line with most other Euro countries,  but would be far more expensive than the US. say maybe 60% more expensive.

Do not bring huge amounts of cash with you as you will be charged a currency conversion fee twice, when getting Euros and then changing back to $.

Use a Maestro debit card or Visa credit card.

I would budget for 500 euro a day for your visit.

  4. The best thing for you to do would be to use your credit card, because you will be getting the fairest exchange rate, another good idea is to bring your debit and just withdraw cash from the bank as you need it, not only will you be losing a lot of money the way you are planning to do it but you could end up being a target of thieves, thats a crazy amount of cash to be carrying on you. with a credit/debit card you will not be paying the foreign exchange/bank their fee on top of an exchange rate that is in the banks favor.
