  1. Well nobody can top Bella here

so i am not even gonna try,

    she has said it all

Sustainability means long term health for the Environment which means it ends with us

    we are interrelated

    check out this links

terra preta or bio char was artificial organic  fertilizer they used 1500 years ago in the Amazon Basin  ,for their sustainable farming ,that supported millions of people of a lost civilization .Nobody knows about .

    .

  2. Define sustainability

For me it is a combination of the following two definitions:

    1. The characteristic of being able to coexist with another system indefinitely, without either system being damaged

    2. The use of ecosystems and their resources in a manner that satisfies current needs without compromising the needs or options of future generations

    Then define health

I would change the word [or] for [and], but it is a personal preference.

The overall condition of an organism at a given time in regard to soundness of body [or] mind and freedom from disease or abnormality.

Death is the ultimate definition of bad health in my opinion.

So in order to live and remain in good health we need to be able to co-exist with another system indefinitely, without either system being damaged. Ensuring the use of ecosystems and their resources in a manner that satisfies current needs without compromising the needs or options of future generations.

And if we don't (as we don't now) we may die, we may affect our chances of reproducing, we may have increasingly poor health.

    Farming practices and human health

You can't be a meat eating environmentalist, watch the video.  We are part of the food web. Our survival depends on survival of all other parts of the world. Look at how our diet impacts on the health of ourselves and the rest of the world, ie rain forests. Look at how our intensive farming practices rape, pollute the air, soil and water.

Soil deterioration - this is a massive issue. As a result of intensive and unsustainable farming soil deterioration is becoming a global problem. Massively contributing to malnutrition and people starving.

    http://news.mongabay.com/2008/0411-terra...

In the UK for example our soil lacks Selenium which has been accelerated by intensive farming methods.

    http://www.rsc.org/Education/EiC/issues/...

Once we take the natural fertility from the soil we have to replace it with chemical additions, such as fertilizers and pesticides. These not only destroy the soil, but they negatively impact on human health.

    http://archive.ewg.org/reports/bodyburde...

Man made chemicals in general are unsustainable and negatively impact on human health, everything from food additives to cleaning materials.

This topic is massive, basically if we don't live sustainably, ultimately we may not survive. If we do, our unsustainable activities will have an increasingly negative impact on our health.
