  1. The fins will slowly develop a white or transparent edge and begin to deteriorate, looking like white-edged chunks were removed from the fins.  In some cases, fungus will infect open wounds on the fin leading to fungal fin rot.  The best plan of action would be more frequent water changes, removing activated carbon from the filter (which the fish's TANK should have), and beginning treatment with Maracyn TC, Maracyn 2, Furan 2, Triple Sulfa, Trisulfa, Kanaplex, TC Capsules, or formalin based medications.

  3. tail rot looks like your fish tail is literally falling apart, leaving tiny bones...time to get medication! Call the pet smart aquarium department. I know from experience that there is treatment for this problem, for gold fish but betta are more delicate. Good luck
