What does tender age mean?

When someone says "the tenger age of 19" what does that mean? When do you stop being tender?

  1. 'tender age' originated from the veal industry.  lambs are most delicious when they have not gotten too old and sinewy... hence the 'tender age'.

    therefore, it is quite cannibalistic to refer to a cute child as being at such a 'tender age'... and certainly the age of 19 would not be tender anymore... i bet the muscles are a bit sinewy at that point... but i digress.

    since you asked, i would speculate that a human child would stop being tender at the age of 7 to 8.


  2. It is a cute way of saying someone is young. Never. Someone older than you can always call your age tender. In fact, tell your parents that they are at the "tender age of ___". Go ahead. See what happens.
