  1. the tension is the intensity the strings are being held together with

the higher the tension the less flex will be allowed and it will be more accurate with your shots  while a loose tension allows it to flex and you get more power and reduced accuracy

  2. String tensions affect the speed of the ball when hit. It also affects the feel of the shot. Higher tensions tend to be flat. When you hit the ball with a higher tension racquet, the ball stays longer on the string bed thereby giving you more control of the ball. To hit the ball with power though, you have to hit harder than when you have lower string tension. The lower tension makes the string bed springier and bouncier. It acts like a trampoline when the ball is hit thereby creating more power even with the slightest swing effort. More power but lesser control. Higher tensions do the opposite. Strings with lower tension tend to last shorter since the strings tend to slide more against the cross stings thereby causing them to break at the contact points.

Tennis racquets have recommended string tensions for best playability. You have to play around the recommended tensions 'til you get the right tension for your game. Good Luck!!!

  3. Tension has many effects on the racquet. A higher tensions offer you more control and a slightly better spin.  A lower tensions offer more power and significantly less stress on the arm (tennis elbow). The average string tensions that players use are often the Median recommendation from the manufacturers.  For example, a racquet has a recommendation to be string at 55lbs-65lbs, the average would be at 60lbs. You can go higher or lower string depend on your tennis skills or whichever you think it best for you.
