What does that big E on my Samsung Blackjack II home screen mean?

i just had pic messaging added to my plan and now this big E will not leave my home screen. sometimes its a G to. does anyone know what that means. tha cingular girl in tha phone told me to turn my phone off and when i turned it back on it had this big e. plz help!!
