What does the 1394 connection on our dvr do?

have time warner cable service and wondering what the 1394 connection port is for.

  1. Before HDMI became popular, 1394 was an alternative way to transmit HD video from a set-top to a TV.

    In 2005, actually many HD TVs had both DVI and 1394.

    If it can burn DVDs as well, you can use it to connect to a DV-enabled camcorder and download DV video to your DVD recorder


  2. Simply put, the 1394 connection is also know as firewire. So, if you have digital camcorder, you can burn DVDs with whatever is on the camcorder.

  3. Its probably for FUTURE use... for something like an external drive.. probably not enabled
