What does the 'Aussie Rules' community think about Sam Newman ?

Ok, i'm not trying to stir you guys and yes i will stay out of here and return to Rugby League (where i belong). Having said that i can't stand Sam Newman, the man should have been run over, properly! What do you guys who love your sport think? Was he ever a great player ? By the way, i also think Paul 'Fatty' Vautin is a wanker as well.

i think Sammy's fantastic,yes he's boorish,confronting,arrogant at times but hey at least he Say's it as it is and doesn't cow-tail and conform to the politically correct machine running our society,He makes the Footy show and like him or not most would agree he pulls the ratings not the other dull souls on it.

And like it was suggested in the paper here in Melbourne,Sam should have doned a beret and called the mannequin skit PERFORMANCE ART, he'd still be on air.

Sam is a hall of fame inductee. He was a 300 game player, captain and best and fairest for Geelong.

I have been to the Footy Show five times, but since I live in America, I only know about what Sam does by reading the Internet and a bit on You tube.

Sam is the Footy Show and if he is off for good, the program will fail. I have never seen the NRL show, just know the name of Fatty, that is all.

i watched the footy show last night and walked of 3/4 of the way through... they are all funny but without sam there its not the footy show... people just take affend to stuff easily and when sam is just trying to have a laugh(BANG) he says sumtin wrong, but its only wrong when the person takes it wrong...its ment to be funny aswell as serious and sam is funny aswell as serious at times???

he is a champion footballer!!!

I think Sam is the Footy Show and to take him off would be bit like watching h***s Kitchen without Gordan Ramsey  because some people don't agree with what he says.

Sam Newman is as arrogant as they get. In fact all the hosts on the AFL footy show are arrogant b@rstards!

I work at the corporate functions area of the MCG and I was serving drinks at Glenn Archers testimonial game and as part of my job I have to ask guests if they would like any drinks obviously..well I went up to James Brayshaw (footy show host and Nth Melb president) and he bluntly told me, in front of Ricky Ponting and David King, that if he wanted anymore f*cking drinks he would call me over. Fair enough mate!

Even Garry Lyon and Billy Brownless are arrogant, I don't know why they just played footy.

Having said that, Sam Newman was the heart and soul of the Footy Show and it won't be the same again.

dont know much about him as a player but

i think he was a kent on the footy show, totally disrespecting caroline wilson - it was very derogatory and unfair.
