  1. A WX-1 visa is a Business Visitor visa. It allows a very limited amount of work in Canada. Generally this precludes both the individual's integration into the Canadian labour market as well as remuneration from a Canadian source. Any work beyond that would require a formal work permit.

The maximum validity of a WX-1 visa is typically 6 months. The validity is based on the date on which the visa is obtained at the port of entry, and not necessarily the date of approval by a visa office. Documentation demonstrating the delay to the project and the new termination date should be available at such time if the original application specified a time-limited period of work.

This visa can be extended from within Canada via an application to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville, AB. Once expired, an application for a new visa will be required to seek re-admission at a later date.
