  1. Environment - Basically, we should respect God's creation, he gave us charge over this planet as we read in the book of Genesis. Therefore we are called to be responsible in our actions not to destroy what God has given us.

Stem Cell Research - any time of stem cell research that destroys life is forbidden, such as embryo stem cells. However, not all stem cell research destroys life, and for those types that don't destroy life, the Church has no problem with this research.

Education - intellect is a gift from God, we should put it to use. King Solomon asked for wisdom and this pleased God. It is written that Solomon is the wisest person who ever lived, this shows that wisdom, knowledge and all that good stuff is pleasing to God, and so it is promoted by the Catholic Church.

    Hope these answers help ya.

  2. They're agin' em.

  3. 1.  Environment:  protect it and makes use of it in the healthiest, most productive ways.

    2.  Stem cell research:  no, when human embryos are destroyed; yes, to the new stem cell research being explored in skin cells and the similar.

    3.  Education:  educate the world; enlighten populations with all of the vast wells of knowledge in the sciences, mathematics, and so forth.  Also, temper that knowledge with a solid moral foundation in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Science books can teach us how the world goes round, but they can't teach us how to love one another.

    God bless.

  4. There have been several recent documents on these issues.

Mankind has a stewardship responsibility for the environment.

After all, GOD is our Creator & gave it for our care.

Stem Cell research itself is not the issue;-{ it's using embryonic cells.

These are individual human life created outside of the womb.

They were designated as surplus for in-vitro fertilization.

That is why Christians (not just Catholics) have an issue.

The Catholic Church is one of the founders & champions of education.

The Church started public schools, hospitals, orphanages, etc.

  5. Good question!

  6. <<What does the Catholic church say on these issues?>>

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaces:

    <<the envrionment?>>

339 Each creature possesses its own particular goodness and perfection. For each one of the works of the "six days" it is said: "And God saw that it was good." "By the very nature of creation, material being is endowed with its own stability, truth and excellence, its own order and laws." Each of the various creatures, willed in its own being, reflects in its own way a ray of God's infinite wisdom and goodness. Man must therefore respect the particular goodness of every creature, to avoid any disordered use of things which would be in contempt of the Creator and would bring disastrous consequences for human beings and their environment.

    <<stem cell research?>>

2295 Research or experimentation on the human being cannot legitimate acts that are in themselves contrary to the dignity of persons and to the moral law. The subjects' potential consent does not justify such acts. Experimentation on human beings is not morally legitimate if it exposes the subject's life or physical and psychological integrity to disproportionate or avoidable risks. Experimentation on human beings does not conform to the dignity of the person if it takes place without the informed consent of the subject or those who legitimately speak for him.

    <<education?>>

2229 As those first responsible for the education of their children, parents have the right to choose a school for them which corresponds to their own convictions. This right is fundamental. As far as possible parents have the duty of choosing schools that will best help them in their task as Christian educators. Public authorities have the duty of guaranteeing this parental right and of ensuring the concrete conditions for its exercise.

  7. Who cares what they have to say.

  8. The Catholic Church feels that the environment should be protected. God gave us this green earth; it's our job to not destroy it more than necessary.

The Catholic Church doesn't have any issue with stem cell research in and of itself. It's a viable way to fight diseases. The Church is, however, dead-set against embryonic stem cell research. We believe that life should be protected from the moment of conception, and that includes embryos.

The Catholic Church has a very high view on education. Many of the world's great universities are Catholic, and Catholic primary and secondary schools are widely regarded at least in the United States as some of the best schools available.

  9.     There is a book that I highly recommend for anyone interested in the Catholic Church or the Papacy. The name of the book is “Vicars of Christ – The Dark Side of the Papacy”. by Peter De Rosa

Most people think that the Popes were pretty nice people. Wrong!! The Popes down through history have been very evil men capable of murder at the drop of a hat. There have been married Popes, there have been 13 year old Popes, there have been perverted Popes. Some Popes were caught having s*x with another man’s wife so the men killed the Popes involved. Popes have even owned w***e houses to make money for the church.

For several hundred years there were 2 and then 3 Popes at the same time. Nobody knew who the real Pope was. There was even a time when the church didn't even have a Pope. And then there is the Pope who everyone still thinks was a woman. She had a baby on the way back to the Vatican.

This book by Peter De Rosa is so interesting and you’ll be glad you read it. Call your local library and ask them for it. If they don’t have it then ask them to order it from one of their branches. If they can’t do that then go to YAHOO and type in “Vicars of Christ” and find someone who will sell it to you. I know Amazon has it. But remember, it’s called  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€ÂœVicars of Christ -The Darkside of the Papacy”. There are several other Vicars of Christ out there but this is the one you want. Goooood book!!!

  10. Pope Benedict issued an encyclical on the environment.  It is found in MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS

    POPE BENEDICT XVI

    FOR THE CELEBRATION OF THE

    WORLD DAY OF PEACE

    1 JANUARY 2008

THE HUMAN FAMILY, A COMMUNITY OF PEACE

The family, the human community and the environment

    7. The family needs a home, a fit environment in which to develop its proper relationships. For the human family, this home is the earth, the environment that God the Creator has given us to inhabit with creativity and responsibility. We need to care for the environment: it has been entrusted to men and women to be protected and cultivated with responsible freedom, with the good of all as a constant guiding criterion. Human beings, obviously, are of supreme worth vis-à-vis creation as a whole. Respecting the environment does not mean considering material or animal nature more important than man. Rather, it means not selfishly considering nature to be at the complete disposal of our own interests, for future generations also have the right to reap its benefits and to exhibit towards nature the same responsible freedom that we claim for ourselves. Nor must we overlook the poor, who are excluded in many cases from the goods of creation destined for all. Humanity today is rightly concerned about the ecological balance of tomorrow. It is important for assessments in this regard to be carried out prudently, in dialogue with experts and people of wisdom,

    Stem Cell Research

    The Catholic Church’s Moral Teaching

Adult stem cell research holds out the promise of a large step forward in the healing process. This research has been described as the most promising advance in medical science in the last decades. The Catholic Church is not opposed to the development of these therapies and remedies for a host of ailments and deficiencies that afflict the body. Stem cell research using stem cells from ethical sources is a continuation of the work that has been done for millennia by physicians and researchers seeking cures for illness and healing for the sick.

What the Church, as the conscience of society, calls for is moral and ethical reflection on the use of human embryos for stem cell research. No scientific, technological, or medical advances should take place divorced from human conscience and moral and ethical consideration.

Given the force of demonstrable physical data, science cannot deny that we are dealing with the continuum of human life. Therefore, we are not free to treat embryos the same way that we would treat a cancer tissue, or even a laboratory rat.

LOL, you do realize that there are many Catholic schools, colleges, and universities out there, do you not?  So what would that tell you about what the church has to say about education?  In fact most Catholic schools are better than any other school that you can find in your area, when it comes to education.

  11. The envrionment? Good.

Stem cell research? Good and bad.

    Education? Good.

    + The Environment +

"Long before the current ecological movement developed, saints taught respect for all of God's Creation."

The Catholic Church has supported  "Environmentalism" for centuries.

The Environmental Justice Program (EJP) of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) began in the fall of 1993. http://www.nccbuscc.org/sdwp/ejp/index.s...

Here is "An Invitation to Reflection and Action on Environment

in Light of Catholic Social Teaching: A Pastoral Statement of the United States Catholic Conference" from 1991: http://www.nccbuscc.org/sdwp/ejp/bishops...

    + Stem Cell Research +

The Catholic Church supports responsible science including stem cell research that does not use embryonic stem cells taken from aborted embryos (murdered human beings).

The end does not justify the means. One cannot create a moral good from a moral evil.

    + Education +

The Catholic Church has supported the education of all people for millenia.

    Last year there were:

6,266 Catholic elementary schools educating 1,576,301 students

1,352 Catholic high schools educating 680,689 students

236 Catholic Colleges and Universities educating 794,321 students

68 schools for the handicapped educating 6,419 students

And that is just in the United States of America

    With love in Christ.
