  1. Editors are responsible for the quality of their subordinate's work (aka editing and reviewing their articles/pieces) and generally work on the publication's layout (if print). This involves the page's design (where the article is on the page, any photos, designs, or text wraps).

So a fashion editor would be responsible for articles, maybe for writing an opinions column every day/week/issue, and for providing the publication's audience with really colorful and creative fashion presentations!

You should probably be familiar with the fashion industry before pursuing this job, but more importantly, you should be familiar with the journalism industry! There's almost no way you'll get the editorial job right off the bat-- you'll have to start out as a journalist (see subordinate, above). So work on your AP style, writing, reporting, etc.

If you like journalism, go ahead and pursue the editorial position. But you're going to need experience first! (Write lots of articles, familiarize yourself with Adobe Indesign CS__, or another payout program of the sort...)

Good luck, I'll see you at Vogue. ;-)
