What does the Foreign Service National (FSN) category cover other than the U.S.A Embassy local employees?

I was employed by a U.S. company to work for the U.S. Army corps of Engineers in a special Program of the U.S. government in Iraq. Am i elegible for the category of FSN - Foreign Service Employee?

  1. FSN is a category of employee hired as a direct hire by the US Department of State at an overseas location - it does not include private contractors.  FSN's are assigned a grade which appears on their employment and pay documents (for example, FSN-9).  Without any such designation, you would not be eligible to claim that category.


  2. Doubtful, you sound like a contractor. Best to consult your employer about your eligibility.
