  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_G...

Jay Gatsby's death in the pool, as murdered by Wilson the mechanic before Wilson kills himself... Since Gatsby is innocent of the crime of killing Myrtle with the car, and does not know that he has been either mistakenly or purposely named as the driver of the car by Tom Buchanan, Daisy's husband, who is packing to run away with her...

...I think this scene, Jay floating unhappy and unknowing in the pool, only to be killed by a man insane with grief, might possibly be somewhat compared to the crucifixion... the apparently 'nicest' guy in this book is killed, though innocent. Christ was also apparently the 'nicest' guy around and was killed, though innocent.

I hope this isn't too far a stretch. I think not. Look the summary over at the link, if you like (I don't own this book anymore) and give it some thought. I think it can arguably be called a 'biblical allusion.' There's more fuel for this idea if needed, in the book, in the summary, or in the way you link things together.

    Good luck with it.
