  1. actually it's "laciniato" in italian, it means leaves with "lacinie", that is sort of cuts in the surface of leaves. it's a species of cabbage.


  2. I am a former chef and have seen that term applied to the large curly kale also called "Black" kale although it is a dark green more than really black, kale as the other lady said is a member of the cabbage family like swiss chard, collards and other leafy green are good for you.

    We used the black kale for soups, sauce, in pasta stuffing and mixed with other veg for a side vegetable on main courses.
