I heard somebody quote a joke from the Joker, but I don't get it. I have an idea, but I'm not sure:

"See, there were these two guys in a lunatic asylum... and one night... one night they decide they don't like living in an asylum any more. They decide they’re going to escape! So like they get up on to the roof, and there, just across the narrow gap, they see the rooftops of the town, stretching away in moon light... stretching away to freedom. Now the first guy he jumps right across with no problem. But his friend, his friend daren't make the leap. Y'see he's afraid of falling... So then the first guy has an idea. He says "Hey! I have my flash light with me. I will shine it across the gap between the buildings. You can walk across the beam and join me." But the second guy just shakes his head. He says... he says "What do you think I am, crazy? You would turn it off when I was half way across."

  1. Well, they're in the lunatic asylum...so the guy with the light is crazy enought to think his buddy can walk across it....His buddy is crazy and paranoid!

  2. well you cant walk on a beam of light.

and the 2nd guy though it would be possible.

he just didnt do it because he was afraid

the 1st guy would shut it off when he was half

    way.

but as i said before YOU CANT WALK ON A BEAM

    OF LIGHT.

    get it?

    :D

  3. your only crazy if you have fear and distrust

  4. they are lunatics so they are crazy and they think the flashlight beam is a like a beam that holds up a building

  5. There are two things at play here.  (1) The second guy is stupid enough to believe he can walk on a beam of light and (2) he doesn't trust his fellow criminal to leave the light on long enough to walk across the gap.  When he says "What do you think I am, crazy?" one expects he will point out it is impossible to walk on a beam of light.  The unexpected stupidity of the second guy is what makes the joke funny...though this long explanation certainly takes away from the humor.  :)

  6. its ironic that the guy said he would turn it off when he was half way when he should have known that the light would never help him in the first pace
