What does the MD stand for in a car lisence plate?

i see some cars with a NY license plate and it says MD going vertically and then something else..and i am wondering what the MD stands for

    MD.........Master Degree.


  2. it only means that the owner of the car is a physician. ( doctor of medicine).

    i know. i am one.

    New York is one of those states where you can brag your profession on your plates.. for a fee of course..

    if you see DMD it means doctor of dental medicine.

    CPA stands for certfied public accountant

    the list goes on.
