I understand what MBPS means, and how it is used for internet speeds. But I am unsure of what it means on a router. I saw a router that has a top MBPS of 150. I know that internet speeeds reach about 16MBPS.

  1. Mbps stands for Mega bits per second. which is diffrent then what is used inside your computer, which is Mega BYTES. there are 4 bits in a byte. so, when your talking about routers, its 1/4 slower.

ok, gettting down to it. most routers are 100Mbps wired, and 50Mbps wireless.

they now have faster wireless called "N" which is 300Mps

but either way. you must be sure that your hardware is compatible, on both sides computer and router. it will do you no good to have a 300Mbps wireless router, and a 50Mbps wireless adapter on your computer.
