What does the Olympics refs. mean when they use the term "China Syndrome"?

I get the overall concept but when it used specifically around the Olympics what does the term mean?

  1. The "China Syndrome" is the concept that if you travelled from where you live, through the centre of the earth, you come out in China.

    Strictly, this is not physically correct; but to Europeans, Britains and americans, China is "on the opposite side of the world".

    The concept also belongs to the idea of a nuclear meltdown in those areas, wherein, the reactor melts down through the centre of the earth to, guess where(?), China.

    EDIT:

    Sorry, I have not heard it in the Olympics context.  At a guess, I would say it refers to home team favouritism - home audiences and all that.  Can't say I have noticed it, though.  I actually feel that some of the Chinese I have seen on TV are just a little too animated for what I would have expected the Chinese Communist Party Thought Police to have allowed.
