  1. Mandy is correct-they are the primary mint sites for our circulated coinage.


  2. I believe P stands for the Philadelphia Mint, and D stands for the Denver Mint. Neither of them are better. It just means where they were made.

  3. Yes the P stands for the Philadelphia mint and the D for the Denver mint. If you notice some cents do not have a mint mark. In the past and on the cents now, there was no mint mark for the Philadelphia mint. The P was used in the past only on the nickel from 1942-1945 and then on all denominations except the cent, first on the dollar of 1979, then on the others starting in 1980.
