I've just read on msnbc.com that Lake Tahoe will most likely turn green(it is currently a very clear blue) within the next decade or so because the water levels will mix and the lower level will be depleted of oxygen.

What other natural landscapes(for lack of a better word) are at risk due to global warming?

  1. Global warming affects the entire planet and its eco-systems. Lake Tahoe wont turn green because of lack of oxygen but because of the increase in the growth of algae due to the warmer water which is why cold water lakes tend to be bluer than warm water ones.

  2. Well, besides natural landscapes, there is always: dignity, respect, sense of pride, and right-standing in the world.

  3. I think there is a national park with a few glaciers left.  They are melting.

Florida had a coral reef, that seems to be already mostly covered in algae (nitrogen runoff).  With carbon, it might dissolve.

  4. The USA does alot toward preventing global warming.  But the issue is global warming, if the rest of the globe doesn't start doing their part, the USA can be as green as possible, but it will do no good.  Asia, Europe, etc. are heavy polluters.  Thats where the focus should be.  Not just the USA.

  5. Personal freedoms if the liberals are successful in using manufactured hysteria over a few tenths of a degree change in temperatures as an excuse to strip us of our personal liberties and put the government (with them in charge of course) in control of every aspect of our lives.

  6. it seems weather patterns are becoming less predictable so we don't know the extent of damages but it dose seem that it has tipped and we need to deal with it because this is what we have.
