What does the United Nations say about Terrorism?

Does it leave it alone? Because of religion and out of respect for said religion it lets it be?

I'm very curious if it will ever do anything about this matter.

  1. Terrorism is frowned upon by the United Nations because it is not coherent with its purpose that there must be peace in this world.

  2. The first thing to do is to tackle state terrorism, and for that, the UN needs to take tough action against those rogue states that sponsor terrorism.  Like Iran, like Syria, like the United States, like Libya, etc...

  3. It usually rewards terrorism, especially if the victims are infidels.

  4. they are one of the biggest reasons that it exsists. so  they would say "thank you for listenning"

  5. The United Nations opposes terrorism.  However, the members are unable to agree on what qualifies as a terrorist beyond the simple definition that those fighting on my side are freedom fighters, those fighting on your side are terrorists.

  6. Due to the very concept of state sovereignty - which is a foundational concept in the international system - the United Nations itself has almost no power to deal with the issue.  It doesn't matter what the UN has to say about terrorism, what matters is; what are its institutions (General Assembly, Security Council) planning to do about it?  I believe that they should tackle the issue from its very roots; increase levels of education in third-world countries and look to the nations with the largest economies for higher financial aid.  They should also pay more attention to where these aids are going; to make sure that they help to increase the number of development programs globally (not just feed a wealthy and corrupt government official).  Battling the issue of terrorism could not be done by simply increasing global conflict zones and ultimately; global poverty.

  7. Well terrorism is not always religion based. I think united nation want to stamp it out in all forms. Including countries that unjustly attack sovereign states. U.S.A we are looking your way.

  8. They say it is bad, but refuse to do anything about it or even define it.

  9. It is an international gathering of diplomat and politicians. They approach all problems with and open mouth. You can get any opinion you want.

  10. The UN doesn't even have a definition of the word

  11. What does anybody have to say about Terrorism?

The United States of America does not unjustly attack sovereign states. What do you mean by unjustly. Was 9-11 unjustly?
