I heard its nasaly.

I live in michigan and I always wonder what people from down south or somewhere else think.

Whenever a vacation to Arizona or Florida people can always tell that I am from Michigan just from the way I talk.

weird.

  1. It doesn't strike me as nasal, just as the inflections and some vowel sounds influenced by Scandinavian speech, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish. My   speech  has some of that, too, as my maternal grandparents lived in Duluth and Superior.

We say "towards" instead of "toward," for example. The "ow" sound in "town" or "down" is also more complex, almost like 'ow-oo' as a dipthong.

Lost of folks think you northerners are the nicest, most honest folks we have in the US.
