What does the average 10 year old girl play with?

My daughter will be 10 in a few weeks but still plays with Littlest pet shop, stuffed animals, barbies, groovy girls, etc. She has a gameboy, a leapster, radio, bike and skates. She attends a school that's not by our house so she hasnt had any friends over in her room. This year will be her first party with friends from her class and I am wondering if she would end up getting embarrassed if her friends dont play with the same types of toys. I personally dont mind that she is still into these toys, I just dont want her to be embarressed at school if she is the only one.

That is normal for a 10 year old. My cousin is 10 and LOVES all of that stuff.

Plus, she shouldn't care what her friends think! I played with Barbies until I was 13(I'm 15 now)and still play with them with my younger cousins and baby-sitting charges. Don't worry about it.

She sounds like a typical 10 year old.  They also make big messes in there room and like to play lemonade stand.  :)

I teach 4th grade and I know a lot of our girls (aged 9-10) still love Littlest Pet Shop, etc. I think she'll be fine.

My daughter is going on 11 and she still plays with things like that. So does her friend who lives across the street.

10 year olds just like other children are individuals.  They enjoy playing with all sorts of things.  I'm thinking that the one embarrassed by your daughter's behavior is yourself.

If she isn't worried about it, then you shouldn't be either.  She likely knows what her friends play with and if she knew that it was "uncool" to play with those things (by her friend's standards) then she'd be putting that stuff away herself probably.   I think at 10 those things are still being played with by most girls.

I also have a 10 year old daughter.  She loves stuffed animals and barbies.  I think that the other girls will think nothing of what toys she has in her room.  If they are friends with her, they must have some things in common.  

My daughter just had a birthday party a few months ago and the girls ended up playing with all of the new things that the other girls brought as gifts.  If you are still worried about it just have her open her presents first.

my daughter is 9 and she does not play with things like that. She is into crafts, computers, PS2 (singstar). She loves to draw and create. She will play with her beanie kids and Ello but thats about it. She loves to cook and play boardgames. There is nothing wrong with what your daughter plays but all kids are different. Have a few things ready for those that do not like those things.
