  1. It will work, but if you have not already purchased it (and assuming your HD projector has a DVI or HDMI input) you would be better off with a good upscaling DVD player. Some options include the Oppo 981 ($229) or a Toshiba HD-A3 (~$200). The latter is not quite as good an upconverter as the Oppo, but has the advantage of supporting one of the two HD disk formats. You could also consider a Blu-ray player but they are a bit more expensive (and by the way picture quality and sound from Blu-ray is essentially identical to that from HD DVD disks)..

I have an Oppo 971 and an HD-A2 and use the latter as my primary DVD player -- even though the Oppo gives a marginally superior DVD image on my HD projector -- because it is inconvenient to connect both and I occasionally play HD DVDs (e.g. Planet Earth).

I rarely play HD disks for two reasons ... the picture on my 110" screen from DVDs is great and the slight improvement in picture quality from HD DVDs is not worth the price premium ... at least not to me.

  2. It will certainly be compatible.

    It has

    S-Video Output

    Component Video (Y, Cr, Cb)

    Composite Video Output

    Optical Output

    Coaxial Output

    Analog Audio Output

You will want to connect via Component Video cables (R,G,B RCAs) to the projector.
