What does the chinese word "amoy" mean in English?

I work with alot of chinese people and they always say "amoy" to me.. can somebody please tell me what the word means in english?

  3. zfxgo3 is right. Its chinese common dialect version especially those AUNTIE who like to call young people AMOY if they do not know their name.

    For example: Ah soh means Auntie

  7. It sounds as if they could be calling you  Ã©Â˜Â¿Ã¥Â¦Â¹ "ah mui", literally "little sister". Cantonese Chinese speakers often use that to address young women, especially those they don't know too well. I'm not sure if it would be the same amongst Mandarin Chinese speakers. Anyway, that's just my guess.
