What does the class leadership mean in Middle School?

I just entered a certain grade in middle school and for my elective i chose leadership. And i got it! but i don't know what it is?????? Also my friend got this class called MS Publications? we have no idea what that is too. So please explain to us we are just hopelessly lost people and we need help.

Class leadership in middle school, or high school for that matter, is usually based on nothing more or less than social "popularity."

Class leaders are chosen because their peers consider them to be "cool" and for no other reason.

I believe it will teach you to be leaders in different situations in both personal and professional life. It will help you how to become a leader, how to stay a leader and teach others how to lead.

MS Publications is working with computers and different applications that are used.
