What does the comma mean in an item that is listed on EBay as GBP 29,99? Is it like a decimal?

I am watching an Italian auction on ebay and the item starts at 29,99 and Buy It Now is GBP 230,00. What do both of these mean? If I am to bid up to $250 US dollars, how would that work? I have a converter on my computer, I am just confused by the comma. Thanks.

  1. the comma is just like the u.s. decimal.

  2. yes, the comma means decimal. just one thing: why does an italian auction have a British price? of course in Italy we have euros
