In all of my doctor write-ups the doctor writes "Cardiac Exam: remarkable for a precordium that is quiet to palpation." What does that mean?

  1. If your heart is enlarged, thickened or hyperactive(all signs of cardiac disease) when he places his hand on your chest wall(palpates)abnormal and transmitted impulses of the contracting heart can be felt by his examining hand.  If the precordium(chest wall overlying the heart) is quiet abnormalities are not present and this is a good thing.
