it shows that she is free from hanging around with the wrong people and is free to do what she feels that she can be who she wants to be and not pretend that she is something she wasn't in the first. Also, it emphasizes her youth.

Maybe it is a symbol of her youth. That's an interesting question. I have 4 year old daughter and that movie scares the c**p outta me !!!
