on the top plate, there is an extra 1 before the letters, but not on all Glocks. What does it mean? Is it legit?

  1. I did a Google search on it and discovered the following:

    1) An alleged Glock armorer answered this same question when you posted it a month ago, and said it means the pistol was reconditioned by Glock.

    2) On glocktalk.com, there's mention of it being an indicator that the frame was replaced.

    3) On pafoa.org, someone posted that it means the pistol was upgraded/"refurbished".

I'm gonna guess it means some type of factory refurb work took place.  :)  You should email or call Glock customer service and ask them.  Then post their response here so we know what the truth is.

  2. Especially if it has the cast-in rail in front of the trigger guard, it is probably a later series manufacture. I had an older G-17 that didn't have either the rail, or the extra prefix digit.

  3. cant say I've seen that,,,, my police duty pistol, a glock 23 w/ the rail has US after the serial number... and LE only use mags... but they dont count anymore. hehe

  4. police, military use only . use caution . strong possibility miss use.

  5. The gentleman above me was correct.  This means that it is a replacement frame for an original that was not repairable by Glock.  Since the frame or 'reciever' is the one part of any firearm that is considered the actual firearm by the ATF.  The serial number is given to the firearm when the frame is made, if that frame is damaged beyond repair the exact same serial number can not be made again, Glock then uses a 1 in front of the original serial number.
