Question:

What does the front crawl build in swimming?

I'm looking to build up my upperbody and tone a bit, so I've picked up swimming. I swam 1000 meters in 22 minutes today doing the front crawl. For someone who just started swimming two days ago, I thought it was decent (maybe I'm wrong- I know running times, not swimming). Anyway, I'm wondering if doing this will help to build my upper body, and, if so, what parts? Also, is there anything I should be doing to make it even better? Thanks.

  1. Head Position and side breathing keeping your body "in line".  Swimming is an endurance sport not muscle building:)  It will make you lean, tone and will increse your endurance in all other aspects of your life.  There are drills and tools that do make you work harder. Keep up the GOOD WORK:)  agualobo@yahoo.com
