What does the future hold?

What does the future hold when many other nations want to develop nuclear energy? Can there be enough oversight so that countires can;t produce nuclear weapon?

Easy. Read the last book in the Bible...The Book of Revelations. It pretty well explains what is going to happen in the future and is already happening now.

I would hope that people wouldn't fire nukes when they know it'll bring on a nuclear winter.

I am against the further creation of biological and chemical weapons. And I also believe any country that is developing them for terror on our soil or our allies should be subdued.  I believe that if we develop out Nuclear Arsenal, that will make other developing nations think twice before creating a bomb.  Nations like Iran and North Korea cannot be trusted with this kind of sensitive issue.  I believe that North Korea is somewhat losing it's ambition, but Iran is not going to stop for any reason in the creation of a bomb for themselves.  If they continue building these weapons, I would guess that Israel would attack and I support that 100%.  Russia is now a new concern, as Cold War II has just begun and I do believe we have the upper hand, and Russia still believes it has the power to assert authority over Eastern European nations when in fact, they are not part of their country any more.

There is oversight, but the inspectors often get told to leave the country. Sometimes they can hide the stuff they don't want the inspectors to see. Nuclear issues are complicated, and it would probably be best if Iran, and North Korea couldn't use it...
